Okinawa Invitational 4: mens 80KG championship

  • Last Call Legion Kitanakagusuku, Okinawa, 901-2316 Japan (map)

The Okinawa Invitational 4 debuted our men’s 80kg championship and brought elite grapplers from Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, the United States, Germany, and Brazil to Okinawa for a full day of high-level double elimination action. Top teams such as Piramide Grappling, Leos Jiu Jitsu, 10th Planet San Diego, and Imanari Jiu Jitsu were all represented, creating a showcase of sharp technique, grit, and international talent from the opening match to the final belt ceremony.

Marco Aurellio De Queiroz of Piramide Grappling in Rio de Janeiro claimed the inaugural 80kg title with a dominant run, finishing four of his five matches by submission. Genki Yamaguchi secured second place after an impressive series of strong wins and highlight finishes.

The event delivered standout moments including Ibuki Arimatsu’s 25 second leg lock, which was the fastest submission of the tournament. Another major highlight came from 18 year old Indiana Keirn, who stepped in as a last minute replacement and shocked the bracket by defeating two seasoned brown belts before being stopped only by the eventual champion and finalist.

OI4 continued the growth of the Okinawa Invitational with world-class performances from rising prospects and established veterans.
