About the Founder: Chase Owen
My name is Chase Owen, and I’m a Brazilian Top Team black belt under Professor Marcello Bergo. My jiu jitsu journey didn’t begin in Okinawa, but this island is where I grew the most as an athlete, a competitor, and as a member of a community that shaped who I am today.
I spent my early years in Okinawa competing in MMA and testing myself in every way I could. Over time, I shifted from competing to building. I’ve competed everywhere from small local MMA and BJJ shows to major events like Kaisai, and those experiences gave me a deep respect for the grind, the nerves, and the heart it takes to step onto the mat.
Now my focus is on growing the grappling scene here in Okinawa and helping strengthen the community that helped raise me. I want to highlight the incredible talent on this island, support young and hungry grapplers, and create opportunities for athletes to be seen and celebrated.
